She was a musician, creator, performer and also broke boundaries in the music world. The dual nature of her character as a Mexican American star was both traditional and contemporary. She helped bring Tejano to the mainstream with her innovative approach. Her untimely death splintered her growing popularity and, as often happens when a bright deeply genial star dies far too young caused many to grieve her unrealized potential. In order to prevent her accomplishments from being forgotten, many fans over the past times have been motivated to do even more. Selena was the Tejano performer who tragically killed in a shooting accident, caused the Latino reaction that can be likened to the reaction to the deaths of Elvis Presley and John Lennon's deaths. Selena was a wildly popular singer among Latinos in North America. But her music touched both the young and the old. Selena, a sexy and stunning stage performer who is sometimes referred to as Latina Madonna was the model on stage. Selena was also active in antidrug efforts.
